BiographyGeorgene Lockwood is the author of nine books, including The Complete Idiot's Guide to Beading Illustrated (alpha books, 2004), the best-selling The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Organizing Your Life (alpha Books, 3rd edition, 2002) and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Simple Living (alpha Books, 2000). Lockwood's other books include: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Crafts With Kids (alpha Books, 1998), a guide for parents and caregivers to discovering the world of handicrafts with children; Quaker State’s Auto Racing USA (Andrews & McMeel, April 1998, co-author), a reference guide to motor racing tracks in North America; A Mother’s Memories (Publications International, 1997), a keepsake/ In previous incarnations, Lockwood has worked as a newspaper reporter and a corporate communications specialist, owned her own advertising and public relations copy writing business, and was a stringer for five years for the Associated Press covering auto racing in Connecticut for the Hartford Bureau. As a freelance magazine writer, she has written about such diverse topics as the comic book industry, Victoriana, video games, computer hardware, miniatures, quilting history, contemporary quilters, gardening, herbs, and bridal crafts. Lockwood is a member of the Authors Guild, the International Motor Press Association, and the Mountain Artist's Guild, and is a past president of the Prescott Victorian Society. She has lectured around the country at historical societies, museums, libraries and bridal events on 19th-century American social history, is a frequent panelist and lecturer at writer’s conferences, and has taught journalism and copy writing at the college level. Born in Queens, New York, Lockwood now lives in Prescott, Arizona with her husband, Jim, a well-known leather artist specializing in creating replicas of gun leather from classic Hollywood and television westerns. |
